All dog owners should always be aware and concerned for their dogs health as it’s so easy to miss something or shrug something off until later, and that something could be potentially fatal for your dear pet. If you have seen blood in your dog’s urine then you’ll know that it is a very scary experience and you should know that there could be a number of different causes to the problem (we’ll get into some shortly) so i suggest that you only take this article as an insight and brief idea of what the root of the problem could and/or may be, and also suggest that you take a trip to your nearest veterinary as soon as possible to seek out professional help and a possible examination that would lead to the root of the problem being exposed and a treatment program being implemented where necessary.

Now, I’m going to try my best to list some of the most common causes to blood in urine but i suggest that you do not jump to any conclusions yourself, leave that for the professionals - try not to worry, it’s not going to help anybody.

  1. Your dog may be injured. It is possible that your dog was injured by a vehicle or another animal outside, which could most certainly cause some nasty internal injuries that may cause this blood in your dog’s urine.
  2. Your dog may have a Prostate Infection. An infection of the prostate can be very painful for your dog and it can be a cause to blood in the urine.
  3. Your dog could have stones. Stones are just like the kidney stones that us humans can get, and can be the underlying cause of blood in your dog’s urine.
  4. Your dog could have a Urinary Tract Infection. Dog’s can also get urinary tract infections, which are most definitely very uncomfortable for them. In many cases they can get so bad that they end up causing blood in the urine of your dog.
